What’s Happening in Moms in Tech This Spring (and How to Join Us)

Moms in Tech has been building a robust, curated events lineup for our members since 2021, and this year it feels like we’re really hitting our stride with programming that touches on all facets of career, family, and personal development.

Our events in April and beyond run the gamut from educational to entrepreneurial, and all feature the signature connection and community that Mints is known for. We can’t wait to share recaps of what we were able to learn and discuss together this month. As a reminder, events are exclusive to Mints community members and can be accessed in the “Events” section of our main Facebook group. Sign-up details vary per event, and we aim to record as many events as we can for those who may be interested in rewatching, or for those who can’t make it to the events live. Now, let’s get into the details!

We recently partnered with Women Defining AI to bring Korabench.ai and their important work to our community. The first independent, open-source benchmark designed to evaluate how AI models behave when interacting with children and teens, Kora is focused on safety and ensuring that new tech is developmentally appropriate for youth. We discussed how we can use this framework in developing our own applications, how it can apply to our work across the tech industry, and attendees had plenty of time to ask questions of our expert panel.

We shifted gears to focus on some of the internal struggles that may come from being a mom in tech, tackling the “Three Ps” of perfectionism, people-pleasing, and pretending. Clinical psychologist and executive coach Dr. Anne Welsh, PhD, PMH-C, PCC joined us to show us how to break out of the ambition paradox. The workshop focused on how the Three Ps take root, why they tend to intensify when becoming a mom, and how to help shift one’s mindset to a more sustainable form of ambition rooted in clarity, self-trust, and aligned choices.

Indie app developer Kyra Delaney led an incredibly popular session on what Apple app development actually looks like once you move beyond the tutorials. Her deep dive gave our members an insider’s look at navigating App Store Connect and shared practical habits that help developers ship with confidence. Attendees walked away with knowledge on project configurations, sandbox permissions, and versioning, and a better understanding of the shipping process needed to create their own successful apps.

Founder Dilani Kahawala showed Moms in Tech members how to use systems and AI to do what too often feels impossible running a household while balancing a career in technology. She covered strategies for using AI to cut down household admin hours, and how to leverage AI tools when they’re most beneficial. The mental load carried by moms is real, and this session was a huge help in clearing away the clutter and focusing on what matters most.

We then had the opportunity to welcome Sasha Grinshpun, founder of Catapult Circles and the LinkedIn Accelerator for Introverts, who led Moms in Tech through an important workshop focused on networking. The landscape has changed with the rise of AI, and Sasha’s expert advice helped us learn how to enjoy networking, including a clear-eyed audit of what our LinkedIn profiles are signaling to algorithms and recruiters alike.

Finally, back by popular demand, we met for our regular “ideas vetting office hours,” an hour for dynamic and whip-smart moms to gather together on a Zoom call to help one another with pitch ideas, problems we’re facing in our careers or businesses, or to help with anything else we’re stuck on in our work or lives. These regular meet-ups have been described as absolutely essential by our members, who benefit enormously from one another’s experience and expertise.

These exclusive events are just one part of what makes our community so vital for our members, and so different from anything else out there for moms in tech. From AI safety to app development, mindset work to networking strategy, our programming reflects the full complexity of who we are: professionals, builders, leaders, and mothers. If you’re not yet a member, we’d love to have you. Connect with a friend or colleague who is a member of our community for an invite, or keep your eye out for open membership periods. If you are a member, thank you for showing up, sharing your expertise, and making every session richer. We can’t wait to see what else we can build together this spring.
